A KickStarter Campaign: In Pursuit Of Silence - A Documentary Film

A documentary exploring the value of silence, our relationship with sound, and the implications of living in a noisy world.

And there was this: A Sound Tour of New York City

Barry Becher, co-creator of the Ginsu knife and the master of the hard sell TV pitch died recently. In memory, we are re-airing an exploration of the world of television pitchmen by erstwhile OTM producer Mike Vuolo.

Caught the re-broadcast this weekend.

When and how to ask for the money, false scarcity, social proof, perceived value.

I couldn’t help but think about of the projects on Kickstarter with their scarcity in the form of Limited Rewards and Pledge Deadlines, social proof by display the number of Backers, and of course of perceived value of wanting…

to invite your audience, the tip, to think differently about what they needed in their lives, so that the audience would reach into their pockets, pull out that dollar bill for that bottle of tonic and make the purchase.

I’m sure a Kickstarter campaign can learn a thing or two from the Morrises and Popeils.

Speaking of which… I also enjoyed this from The Onion:

I would add a sixth reason: how cool would it be to render out your next idea for a Kickstarter Campaign?

The other day, @drewjordanphoto suggested that it should be in the shape of one of those Lance Armstrong´s LiveSTRONG wristbands. That would be amazing and much better.
youmightfindyourself:

Love the concept but it is so butt ass ugly I refuse to wear it on my wrist. Someone will come along and design it better so I’ll just wait until then (or they use some of that 6 million to hire an actual product designer).

Another video demonstrating some great amazing shots from a drone chopper. Of course, it comes with the typical club music and slo-mo shots to increase the drama.

Via this now canceled Kickstarter campaign as recognized by FilmmakerIQ.

18 Days in Egypt” has 18 days to go to reach its goal of $18k:

In an interesting twist, it currently has 81 backers.

They favor creators who think through the rewards for backers, get the word out and engage an audience. In other words, the process doesn’t shape the aesthetic. It is the aesthetic.

I’m sure there are some video agencies who specialized in making Kickstarter videos. If not, there should be.

I pledged partly because it looks like a solid and useful product and with $20 you’ll basically get one. But I also pledged because of the brilliant idea of using Kickstarter to get a project off the ground and test the general public’s interest on a product. Cutting the middle man once again. It’s a great example of how “3-D Printing Spurs a Manufacturing Revolution” is working.

At the time of my pledge, the project already surpassed their $10k goal by nearly $19k and they have 28 days to go. 89% of pledges are basically from folks who pre-ordered the Glif.
