If Jobs was Apple’s lead singer–the diva that made the tech industry (and the tech media) swoon and occasionally recoil while cranking out incredible art–Cook is its bass player: steady, essential, and comfortable in the spotlight without the need to be the center of attention.

Nicely played, if you will.

Steve Jobs explains the rules for success (by jandafrique)

Two points of wisdom:

ON PASSION

… it’s the ones who love what they do, so they could persevere when it got really tough.

ON RECRUITING

You gotta be a really good talent scout. You need a team of great people… (to) build an organization that builds itself.

This is not to say that he didn’t enjoy his success: he enjoyed his success a lot, just minus a few zeros.

Nicely said.

I’m still catching up with people’s post on Steve Jobs… like this touching one from Gruber:

I like to think that in the run-up to his final keynote, Steve made time for a long, peaceful walk. Somewhere beautiful, where there are no footpaths and the grass grows thick. Hand-in-hand with his wife and family, the sun warm on their backs, smiles on their faces, love in their hearts, at peace with their fate.

It’s such a small ambition and sad really. They should want to build something, something that lasts.

Steve Jobs on (most) startups.

On Design:

Design is the fundamental soul of a man-made creation that ends up expressing itself in successive outer layers of the product or service.

“… reporter asked Jobs how much market research Apple had done before introducing the iPad, he responded,”

None. It isn’t the consumers’ job to know what they want.

Excuse the language, but still hilarious… on Steve Jobs…

we’ve literally lost the only person in this country who actually had his shit together and knew what the hell was going on.

The irony is that I will probably buy this in printed book form, though I wonder if they would eventually turn it into an interactive e-book or app.

Apple Steve Jobs The Crazy Ones - NEVER BEFORE AIRED 1997 (by dogtownmac)

Apple should redo this and include Steve Jobs.
