It started with Seven for me as well as I remember being blown away in the theater just by watching the title sequence. (I never saw a Saul Bass title sequence in the big screen).

One of my favorite opening titles was the visual narrative from The Kingdom.

pbsarts:

The credits are often the first thing we see when we watch a great film or TV show, but the complexity and artistry of title design is rarely discussed. Creators of title sequences are tasked to invent concepts that evoke the core story and themes of the production, and to create a powerful visual experience that pulls the viewer into the film’s world. In this episode we hear the stories of some of the most inventive people working in the field, including the creators of the iconic Mad Men sequence, the hilarious Zombieland opening and “rules” sequences, and the stirring end credits from Blue Valentine.

Late to the game… but thoroughly enjoyed this, and I’m extremely impressed. Brilliant… and fun.

New research finds that people retain significantly more material — whether science, history or language — when they study it in a font that is not only unfamiliar but also hard to read.

Comic Sans lives!

Re-tweeted this the other day:

Nicely done. I’d buy one… if H-57 negotiates a settlement.

Nice sample info graphic as a part of Lost World’s Fairs which explores typographic possibilities using Web Open Font Format. Great job Friends of Mighty.
